When narcissism exceeds to a pathological level, it is termed narcissistic personality disorder. It happens when their inflated self concept causes disruptions in their social, personal and occupational spheres of life. Narcissistic traits lead a person to take others for granted or exploit their weaknesses. The name comes from the mythological character, Narcissus who loved his own reflection.
