A mission statement for a non-profit organization that I am interested in starting is:

‘To empower and equip single parents who belong to the low income category to get a college degree for themselves, develop and hone essential life skills and income earning skills and put them on path to become self-sufficient in a systematic manner and for the long run’.

The non-profit organization that I am interested in starting will be providing assistance to single parents in the form of financial assistance for childcare and housing, to connect them as students in an optimal manner to different community resources and to enable them to gain financial literacy. Thus the non-profit will work towards helping the single parents and their families to break free and break away from the vicious circle of poverty and become self-sufficient in the long run. The mission statement provided above states my non-profit organization’s aims and values and the reason why it will exist, what it will do and whom it will serve.
