Answer #1

Consolidation tool helps in bringing data together from different tables and worksheets. It helps to merge the data from different tables to a single one.

There are two types of consolidation in Excel: Static and Dynamic

In Static consolidation, data from multiple worksheets/workbooks are consolidated. But if make any changes to the original data, the consolidated data does not reflect the change. Once the consolidated data is created, whatever changes we make to original data will not be taken as there are not links/formulas between these worksheets or workbooks. But in Dynamic consolidation, changes to the original data will be reflected in the consolidated data. In order to do dynamic entries, we have to check ‘Create Links to Source Data’ in ‘Consolidate tool box’, this will create formulas in the output table which will be linked to the original data entries/tables. So, when we make changes to the original data, the consolidated data will automatically gets changed.
