The similarities between homeotic gene and maternal effect gene are that

  1. Both gene are responsible for the growth of the body.
  2. The product of both the gene support in infrasturcture of new infants.

The differences between homeotic gene and maternal effect gene are following:-

  1. Maternal effect gene arises due to the effect of genotype of mother on the phenotype of offspring while homeotic gene affacts independently on the offspring.
  2. Homeotic gene will cause in development of wings and exterior structure of the body while maternal effect gene will cause in development of their fitness and adaptive response to the environment.
