Answer #1

Hydropathy plot- Hydrophathy plot help to visualization of hydrophobicity of peptide sequence,by this kind of plot we could easily distinguish between hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acid from peptide sequence.By this graph we could conclude how many times any peptide crossing to plasma membrane.

scale on hydropathy plot --On X-axis it indicating number of amino acid.while on Y-axis it indicating values from negative to positive.mid point of value on Y-axis is zero.less than zero value which indicated by negative sign is use for hydrophobic amino acids while positive values indicate hydrophilic amino acids.

For crossing to plasma membrane once, 20 hydrophobic amino acids are needed. If in plot 20 hydrophobic amino acids continuously, it means that peptide crossing plasma membrane once to plasma membrane.

if more amino acids present in positive values it means those amino acids are hydrophilic and present outside to plasma membrane.

    1. Extensive treatment with phospholipase A2 of a right-side-out, sealed plasma membrane vesicle preparation from a human fibroblast cell line hydrolyzes a fraction of the lipids in each phospholipid class (see table below). Note that phospholipase A2 hydrolyzes the ester linkage on the fatty acyl chain at the 2-position of a phosphoglyceride. Assuming that the accessible substrate lipids are present on both leaflets (monolayers) of the plasma membrane, calculate the phospholipid composition of each leaflet. Report the calculated percentage of...
