Explain why children with disabilities often experience an extended transition to adulthood.
One of the most difficult part of a child with disability is to grow and learn amidst normal children. This would cause lots of psychological impacts that would prevent them from coming out and perform tasks easily because they would think that they would be ridiculed. This lack of self-confidence and self-esteem would lead them to form negative opinion about people around them. Thus getting into a relationship, getting a job, completing studies on time, navigating around the world would take time. This would further delay their transition into adulthood as it would be marked by serious relationship with a partner, stable job, financial security etc. that would be tough for children with disability to achieve.
