  • Controlled processing requires conscious effort and paying attention when doing something.We have to think about situations,evaluate them and make a decision,which is why controlled processing is slower compared to automatic processing.
  • The person would have to switch between driving and reading/replying to the message,since controlled processing says that we have limited capacity to do things simultaneously.Talking on the phone while driving is easier,compared to texting while driving.This requires attention and control,and switching between either of them.
