PC Diversity & Multiculturalism 4.2: Demonstrate an understanding of how one’s perspective toward multiculturalism and diversity impacts an organization.
You are the president of a multi hospital system that is growing at a rapid pace. There are strains on resources, and pressures to find new ways to achieve an economic scale in operations. In a meeting with the staff, a suggestion was made to look overseas for two services the system normally did internally.
The first was to consider outsourcing the reading of radiological images to an India-based radiology company. They would have radiologists available 24/7, and the images can be sent to them digitally. There would be a 50% savings and would eliminate the need an on-call radiologist in the hospital. It would also call for a reduction in staff and a reduction in supply acquisition.
The second suggestion was to outsource medical records transcription to a Pakistani company. Voice transcriptions could be sent digitally in real time (as notes were dictated), at a cost of nine cents per line versus the current 22 cents per line that the hospital is paying with a local transcription company. The turnaround time was comparable. The negative aspect is that sometimes language differences could cause errors in transcribing. In addition, the decision to take business away from local companies would impact the local economy.
Weighing all the facts, what choices would you make? Keep in mind you want to move your organization forward, yet at the same time, you want to consider your working relationship with the present providers of these services. Defend your choices!
Describe your answer in detail, citing references in APA format where appropriate. Your Journal entry should be at least 500 words.

Diversity and Multiculturalism
A clear understanding of diversity and multiculturalism has got several impacts to an organization. Almost two thirds of CEO’s around the world have realized the importance of incorporating diversity in marketing, as a way of maximizing revenues earned. Cultural diversity is very essential in increasing an organization’s success in the global market. An understanding of diversity and multiculturalism assists business leaders to draft marketing strategies that are tailored to create effective competition in the foreign markets. Such an understanding enables the executive to focus on foreign markets through implementing measures meant to create an efficient human resource management system. World trade has rapidly increased for the last few decades contributing much towards increased world exports. Investing in the foreign markets has contributed to the success of many international companies such as coca-cola, a benefit attached to diversity and multiculturalism. Executives have managed to come up with strategies that are meant to enhance production of goods that are of high quality (Lee, 2016). Understanding of the importance of culture has forced organizations to employ technological means as a way of ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the process of production and marketing and that products and services have the capacity to suit the needs of customers. Key stakeholders in business have shifted their attention in understanding international organizational behaviors that are key to success. Individuals are known to hold values that are a creation of the society. These values in turn do influence the behavior and attitude of an individual. Managerial values have been known to affect the relationships and behavior pattern among the subordinate staff in an organization. Understanding cultural diversity influences one’s perspective in terms of communication. Cultural diversity is demonstrated through norms and laws. In United States, bribery is an act that is seen as a violation of the law and individuals engaged risk been subjected to prosecution. Such norms influence an individual’s perspective in coming up with problem solving methods and decision making strategies.
Effective outsourcing
Strategies are meant to keep an organization focused towards the realization of objectives. As the president of the hospital, I would first consider the benefits related to each organization. The India based company is in this case is the company of my choice. I find the company relevant due to its efficiency, since its radiologists are available throughout the day and night. This is an important feature as it demonstrates efficiency. Efficiency is an important aspect for a hospital to run smoothly and effectively. The Indian company sends images through digital means. I therefore find the company suitable because it has embraced technology in sending images, as a way of enhancing effective communication. This will also help save on time in serving our customers, as internet is very fast, and important deliveries will be made on time. We will also be able achieve our objectives in our first year of partnership by increasing our revenue by 50%. In conclusion, I do prefer to partner with the Indian company due to its many benefits and the fact that there are no languages barriers like those associated to Pakistani company.
