Define the term Job Security. Discuss how this concept has changed with the evolution from
the economy of the 1940's thru the 1970's and how it changed beginning in the 1980's thru today.
Can employees be empowered to be less concerned about Job Security? If so, how?
Job security is nothing but the state of having a job that is secure for so long time and from which no one is unlikely to be dismissed.
it is like a permanent job. no one can have the access to dismiss the person. until unless the employee involved in unethical behavior.
Evolution from the economy of the 1940's thru the 1970's
between the years 1940 to 1970. most of the people involve in self employment rather going for outside job. this is due to many reasons like lack of education system, forming, etc. because of that people had less skills required to work outside. however still few people who had education were working outside. hence the competition was less in the market. hence people use to get jobs easily and obviously job security was very high in those period. any employee dismissed from the company is very less unless he show wrong behaviors.
From the beginning to till date:
As people become economically stronger and education system become stronger. many people started working outside. that to many educated started working in high profile jobs. hence competition increased in this duration. Increase in population was also one of the main reason for having less job security. all these reasons made outside market to be less job secure.
due to globalization and collaboration with many other companies leads to requirement of more skill, hence business organizations will have all rights to dismiss or reject any employee at any point of time based on the project requirements.
Can employees be empowered to be less concerned about Job Security?
i would like to say no for the above question. most of the people in this era are educated and strive to work in good business organizations to make their family economically stronger. empowering educated towards less concerned about job security is a difficult task. because people have limited knowledge and proficiency and good profile works. expectation of educated person is more compared to less educated one. hence we cannot empower them to work which pay less to them. but at the same time the people who are less educated can be empowered easily for not concerning about job security. because less educated people have flexibility in working any other jobs which educated never prefer.
