Answer #1

Critical path analysis is a framework developed in order to utilize data with regards to the structuring of activities in a way which minimizes the time it would take to complete any given project. The analysis is based on the understanding that there would be a number of activities in a given project and tasks can be performed in parallel in order to reduce the time and manage a project with efficiency.

The best structure would make use of activities which are required to be completed before other, assuming the activities are dependent on the preceding tasks being completed. In a similar understanding, some activities would take longer to complete than ye others. Utilizing the data, a manager can create a structure of activities which best represents the chain which would run in parallel to make the best use of their time, resource and budget.

Therefore a critical path analysis is created to look at the activities present in the different chain in order to determine the minimum amount of time it would take to complete the project, the chain of activities which take the longest to complete therefore forms the critical path in that project which allows us to understand that the other activities can be structured around the critical activities to complete the project at the earliest possible time.

The critical path activities are the activities which if delayed, delays the entire project and therefore the project cannot be completed the earliest. Critical activities have 0 slack and 0 float and therefore are necessary for the company to focus their efforts over in order to have the best application of all the underlying values.

As a project goes through the execution phase, project control is critical to ensure that a project stays within the constraints of time, cost, and scope. A project manager will use different monitoring techniques to help keep the project within these constraints. If a project incurs changes, becomes delayed, or costs become higher, a project manager will execute change control to document and determine how to handle the change. Once a project is completed, the project team should complete a...
