Explain the four-branch ability model offer as an alternative to the Emotional Intelligence perspective as referred by Mayer and Salovey

The four branch ability EI model features emotional intelligence in a conceived form and postulates cognitive processing results into emotions and should be measured in terms of problem solving and related tasks carried by an individual. This model determined about various mental abilities which offers appraisal, emotion regulation, expression and integration of these with the cognitive process which helps in accomplishments and growth. It consists of four “hierarchically linked ability areas” , such as

• “perceiving emotions” as branch 1 : It relates with the ability to determine emotions appropriately with the help of emotional signals, attentiveness, detecting voices, etc.
• “Facilitating through emotions” as branch 2: It is the integration of various emotions involved resulting into a thought.
• “Understanding emotions” as branch 3: It consists of the ability to understand the connections among various emotions and how they evolve over the period of time.
• “Managing emotions” as branch 4: It includes the ability to control the emotions of own or others.

The last two branches involves strategic cognitive processes whereas the first two consists of experiential processes.
