This is a microbiology lab question, anyone willing to help, please do!
What is the minimum genotype of a recombinant cell that grew on minimal media supplemented with arginine, methionine, and the antibiotic tetracycline but lacking the essential amino acid isoleucine?
Minimal Media are those media that contain minimal nutrient for colony growth. Now here recombinant cell grow on the minimal media that contain arginine ,methionine and tetracycline antibiotics but lacking isoleucine means that cell are able to synthesize isoleucine and also contain a tetracycline resistance Gene but do not able to synthesize met and arg.so genotype is:-arg- met-, Ile+, tetR.

2 What is the minimum genotype of a recombinant cell that grew on minimal media supplemented with arginine, methionine and the antibiotic tetracycline but lacking the essential amino acid isoleucine 3 How would you determine if your recombinant cells had also acquired the tryptophan gene from the Hart Complete the following table indicating which of the organisms (F and/or Hfr used in this experiment would be expected to grow on the given media. Unless specified, MMD is just minimal medium...

2. For a (fictitious) haploid fungus, the starting point in the biosynthesis of the amino acid arginine is Compound X, which is always present in, and absorbed from the environment. The arginine biosynthetic pathway is: Enzyme B → Compound Y Compound z Enzyme C Compound X Enzyme A arginine A mutant strain of genotype a (lacking enzyme A) is crossed to a mutant strain of genotype c (lacking enzyme C). What proportion...

1. 10pts. Below is a diagram of a cell with two differently sized molecules at much higher concentration inside the cell than outside of the cell. For each of the scenarios listed, describe what would move and where: a) the membrane is permeable to both molecules, b) the membrane is only permeable to the smaller molecule, c) the membrane is impermeable to both molecules. Now...

Question Completion Status: Question 10: The genetic code consists of 64 triplets of nucleotides (called codons). Each codon (with the exception of the 3 stop codons) encodes for one of the 20 amino acids used in the synthesis of proteins. This produces some redundancy in the code as most amino acids are encoded by more than one codon. One codon, AUG serves two related functions: it signals...

IMPROVED NEUBAUER RULING You are preparing to plate yeast that you have been growing overnight in your laboratory and you want to determine the cell concentration of the culture. After diluting a small amount of culture 1:10 and loading your hemocytometer, you observe the grid pictured above with your light microscope. 12. What is the cell concentration (cells/ml) of the...
