In pines, like all gymnosperms, dispersion of genetic material occurs in the form of seeds during sporophytic (diploid) stage of life cycle.In ferns and byrophytes,dispersion of genetic material occurs in the form of spores during gametophytic (haploid) stage of life cycle.
