Definition- PERCEPTION is a psychological process in which people select, organize and interpret sensory impressions into meaningful information about their work environment. Perception is described as a PERSON'S VIEW OF REALITY and every person perceives the world and approaches the life differently and the manner in which a person perceives the environment affects his behavior . People's perception is determined by their needs. For example: we buy what we like the best and not what is the best. It is solely because of perception that a job may appear a good job to one and bad to another.
Effects that perception has in organizational behavior are as follows:
1- Perception affects an employees view of reality. if an employee perceives his job as the best one and he likes it, he will come on time and perform his duties to the best of his capabilities which will lower his absenteeism and increase his as well as organisation performance overall.
.2 :An employee with a positive attitude and good mood will perceives things according to his mood. If an employee is in a happy mood, he will perform duties diligently.
3: if an employee has some needs which are not satisfied, it may make him look worried and this will impact how he performs his duties.
4: an employee's past experiences can have huge impact on how he perceives things in the present.
