Alternative splicing is a method by which different proteins are produced from a single gene only. Most of the genomes of the eukaryotes consists of introns and exons. After the process of transcription, the introns are removed by spliceosomes and the remaining exons are ligated in different ways to produce different mRNAs . Different mRNAs lead to the formation of different proteins and this is how several different proteins are formed from a single transcript of DNA.
