Central Processing Unit:

CPU is the main unit of a computer system that is responsible for arithmetic and logical expression evaluation. Sometimes, this unit is also known as the main processor or central processor.

Most of the calculation in a computer system occurs in CPU only. So, it is also known as the brain of a computer system.

Processor:

To describe any sort of CPU, the generic term used is a processor regardless of cores. A CPU may contain more than one processor.

For example:

Dual-core

Quad-core

Octa-core

A dual-core has two processors but a Quad-core has four processors.

A CPU may have more than one processor or multiprocessors.
