Does your current organization (or one you used to work for) have a written hazard communication (HazCom) program? Have you been or were you provided a copy of the various program elements, or did you receive any training on it? What changes would you recommend for improving Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) compliance? If the organization does not have a HazCom program, do you believe one is needed? Why, or why not? If your organization is exempt from OSHA, do you think some application of the standards would be beneficial? Why, or why not?

At present I work in a Start-up organization that customizes Big Data Analytics program. We are a group of 20 people that work in an entrepreneurial manner and since the team is considerably small, there is not a lot of formal procedure around the office.

Yes. The organization has a written hazard communication program.

I have been provided the hazard communication program when I joined the organization 8 months ago. However, I have not received any training on it.

Since most of our work is done on computers, there is hardly any room for hazard or dangerous situation. Hence the application of OSHA rule is not exactly top priority. I would recommend more details on preventing MSD as per as ergonomics of the work conditions go. For example, better seating chairs and posture training could help in prevention of MSD at the workplace.

The organization has HazCom program. Only that it is not followed very regularly.

The organization is not exempt from OSHA. However, even if some organization is, they still need some standards to provide safe working environment for all people involved.
