  • Various female employees of the company have filed lawsuit against the company stating gender discrimination.
  • Promotion data of over 10 years have been studied and it has been seen that the female employees of the company are rarely promoted
  • The promotions are purely done based on gender as the company feels that female employee will not continue working with the company in future

Analyze how the case was processed legally

  • The case is still in the discussion phase
  • The women employees claim that the promotions in the company are totally based on gender and not on talent and capability
  • The pay equity is also missing in the company as the female employees are usually paid quite less than their male counterparts
  • The company has violated the following laws:
    • Title VII of Civil Rights Act 1964: This act works with the fundamental of protecting the employees from any kind of discrimination and harassment at the workplace
    • Equal Pay Act 1963: This act was developed with the objective of ensuring that employees at same job level must be paid at the same scale. There must not be wage disparity based on any dimension
