Answer #1

Using the Law of refraction, we know

n1 Sin θ1 = n2 Sin θ2

where, n1 = refrative index of air = 1

n2 = refrative index of glass = 1.56

θ1 = angle made by incident light to the normal before refraction.

θ2 = angle made by incident light to the normal after refraction.

Now putting the values:

1 * Sin (57o) = 1.56 * Sin θ2

0.4362 = 1.56 * Sin θ2

Sin θ2 = 0.4362 /1.56 =0.2796

θ2 = Sin⁻¹ 0.2796

= 16.24o

As we have to report the answer in 2 significant figures, so, 16o will be the answer.

hope this helps!
