Discuss when implementing change may be a good opportunity for any organization, department or process. What may occur to necessitate the change and why does change affect morale? Give specific examples and rationales for your responses.
There can be mainly two reasons which can cause the organizations to change and these are external and internal forces.
External forces are brought from the general and task environment of the organization. New rules related to the production, competition can cause the change in the organization. As task environment is very closely related to the organization thus any change which is identified in it, will result in the organization to change. Competitors can also cause a change in the organization when they change their offerings, price or communication method. In fact, the managers can also look at the changing needs and demands of the customers. There are some policy changes from the regulators such as OSHO which can trigger the change in the organization
.
On the other hand, internal factors can also result in changes in the organization. This can be experienced when the organization is not able to fulfill its objectives and mission with the prevailing strategies. The manpower looks like to be discontent and dissatisfied.
The main reasons for having the affected morale due to change are given as below:-
· Most of the manpower can have the fear that any kind of change in the organization can make them redundant as they may not be able to change as per the prevailing new situations.
· While implementing changes, if proper communication is not done with the manpower, it can result in a lot of resistance from the employees.
· Most of the employees can experience shock or fear from the change and thus they will oppose it without knowing the elements to changes.
· There are a number of employees who lack competence and they want to have the status quo and if there is any kind of change in the status quo, It creates a sense of insecurity among them.
· Even there can be some incidences where manpower might have experienced some negative experiences or consequences in past due to some changes.
· Lack of reward to change can also create resistance.

Peppard and Ward offer several perspectives or rationales (citing Michael Earl's work) for working on organizational maturity, including technology, methodology, administration, business, and organization. These perspectives will generally lead to differences in both the process of developing strategies and to the actual resulting strategies. While these perspectives apply to different organizations in different ways, virtually all organizations will be impacted by each at some point, and so these factors need to be considered when implementing MIS systems within the organization....
