Are you surprised to learn that repeat victimization is likely to recur quickly?
I’m surprised to learn that repeat victimization occur quickly. One of the major reasons that I think for this phenomenon is that the self-confidence and the self-esteem of the victim would have been affected by the first incident thus they would be still in the post traumatic stress disorder. They would feel disowned and not worthy of living a normal life. This low self-confidence would prevent them from raising any objection to further victimization. This is also because they would feel powerless because once they were not able to fight someone who abused them, so they would think that they wouldn’t be able to resist anyone anymore.
