First of all because time is in months and they are asking for the cost of 2 months of service t = 2 - then just plug it into the equation - {{{c = 30t+40}}} - {{{c = 30(2)+40}}} - {{{c = 60+40}}} - {{{c = 100}}} - so the cost for FIRST two months of service is $100 - the customer can only pay for the FIRST two months but she can pay for 3 months becuase the payment is $30 per month but the $40 per phone is the initial payment
