Parts of a computer system(Hardware,Software,Data,User)

The following information will give a detailed description regarding the Hardware, Software, Data and User of a computer.

The important elements in a computer can be separated as hardware and software.

The hardware is all the physical parts in a computer where we can touch physically.

Software is a collection of instructions and can perform certain operations.

Data is the information in a computer system.

User is those which will use a computer.

Hardware

The different types of hardware components in a computer are Mother board, CPU, memory, storage mediums like RAM, ROM, HardDisk, CD, monitor, keyboard, printer ,connection cables ,etc.

The CPU or Central Processing Unit is the brain of a computer used to perform all the arithmetic and logical operations of a computer.That is cpu will use the instructions from the program and perform the action specified by the instruction.

The storage part like hard disk, primary memory cache memory CD etc can be usedto store the information. The input devices key board, mouse use to to input the data and information into a computer system. The output devices monitor, printer used to get the resultant out put from the computer. All the hardware parts which were connected in the computer using wires and cables. All the parts which were connected in the mother board.

Software

Software is a collection of programs which can be used to perform certain activities.A software is a collection of instructions which can be used to find out a solution for a problem particular problem.

Softwares are of two types

System software and Application software.

System software is a group of programs which can be used to operate and control, the different activities in a computer. System software is generally prepared by the computer manufacturers. System software is an interface between the hardware and users.

Examples of system software

Assembler, Interpreter, Compiler Operating system, etc.

Application software are developed to satisfy a particular need. Application software will be a single program or a collection of programs which were developed to satisfy the user’s needs.

Examples of application software are

Inventory management system, Airline reservation system, Hospital management system , notepad, MS Office ,etc.

Data

Raw facts in a computer are said to be data. Instruction in a computer is a special type of data. The data which can be used by the computer processed it and generate the information. The data which represented by using alphabets, numbers and special characters.

The processed data is said to be information.

Input the data to the computer by using input devices or get the data from the storage parts. Process the data by the processor, that is perform arithmetic or logic operations with the help of instructions and get the output through the output devices. Store the data in the storage medium.

Users

A computer user is the person who uses the computer.

Users are of different types

They are generic type and specific type.

Generic type users are advanced users ,regular users and basic users.

Advanced users are the users with advanced knowledge about the software and hardware in a computer. Regular users have some knowledge of a computer. Basic users are starter persons and they have only basic idea regarding a computer.

Specific type users are administrators, animators program developers,web developers ,etc.

Input the data using hardware devices like input devices ,perform arithmatic or logic operation using the cpu with the support of the programs and get the out put throuh the out put devices.All these activities which were performed with the support of the system software program operating system.
