E = F/Q = kQ/r²
in Newtons/coulomb OR volts/meter
k = 1/4πε₀ = 9e9 Nm²/C²

kQ₁/r₁² = kQ₂/r₂²
Q₁r₂² = Q₂r₁²
where the r's are distances from null point
let Q₁ = -9
Q₂ = -8
r₁ + r₂ = 8
r₁ = 8–r₂

9(r₂)² = 8(8–r₂)²
or r = 3.88 cm

Since r₁ is distance from Q1 to null point, then null point is y=2.88 cm
