Question

"The radius of curvature of an electrode determines the magnitude of E just outside of it....

"The radius of curvature of an electrode determines the magnitude of E just outside of it. A sharp point has a tiny radius of curvature, a flat surface has an infinite radius."

Could someone tell me what these sentences above mean please?

Also, is electric field stronger just outside a curved or a flat surface?
