For each situation described in parts a-c, identify or briefly describe i) the observational unit, i) the sample, iij the population, and iv) each variable and its type (categorical nominal, categorical ordinal, numerical discrete, or numerical continuous). Below is an example: Researchers recruited 60 American cigarette smokers aged 18-34 who desired to quit smoking. Half of the participants were randomly selected to receve the drug bupropion and half received a placebo. The number of cigarettes smoked during the following three months was recorded for each subject. i) the observational unit is each person/smoker i) the sample is the 60 cigarette smokers who participated in the study ili) the population is all American cigarette smokers aged 18-34 who desire to quit smoking iv) One variable is the treatment (bupropion or placebo), variable is number of cigarettes smoked during the following three months, which is numerical discret which is categorical nominal. The other The following information was collected at 15 different New Jersey blueberry farms: acreage (k blueberry varieties grown, annual yield (kg), and the farm owners assessment of how likely the farm is to turn a profit in the following year (on a scale ranging from very likely to very unlikely). a) b) 100 male laboratory rats were randomly divided into four treatments. Each treatment received a different dose of caffeine in their drinking water (omg, 50mg, 100mg or 150mg) daily for one week. The total hours slept by each rat during the week was measured c) For each of five New York state lakes, the water pH, zooplankton species diversity (number of species present), and presence/absence of invasive zebra mussels were recorded.

ii) Sample will be pH of water, zooplankton species diversity and presence/absence of invasive zebra mussels per Lake present in newyork.

iii) Population will be all the parameters of water and all the diversity present in the lakes.

iv) varaibles are pH which is a numerical continuous, zoo plankton species diversity which is a numerical discrete, and invasive zebra mussels is a categorical nominal variable.
