Answer #1

a) the above reaction can very well be classified into an endothermic reaction because it is given very clearly in the question that when the reaction take place the temperature of the surroundings is decreased i.e. the temperature of the system must have increased hence it have gained the heat from the surroundings which is the quality of an endothermic reaction where heat is absorbed.

b) the potential energy diagram for an endothermic reaction is shown in the picture where potential energy of products is greater than that of the reactants.transition steve AHO ie positive for an endothermic reaction Potential achuared energy energy Ea so Products energy is absors

C) the thermochemical equation which is given in the answer is correct as we know it is a endothermic reaction hence the heat is added to the reactant side because we already know that Delta H is positive for endothermic reactions.

Instant cold packs used to treat athletic injuries contain solid NH4NO3 and a pouch of water. When the pack is squeezed, the pouch breaks and the solid dissolves, lowering the temperature because of the endothermic reaction NH4NO3(s)+H2O(l)→NH4NO3(aq) ΔH= +25.7 kJ. What is the final temperature in a squeezed cold pack that contains 43.5 g of NH4NO3 dissolved in 125 mL of water? Assume a specific heat of 4.18J/(g⋅∘C) for the solution, an initial temperature of 29.0 ∘C, and no heat...

    10) (10pts) A cold pack consists of a small inner bag that contains water inside another larger bag that contains solid ammonium nitrate. When a cold pack is needed, the inner bag is broken and the water and ammonium nitrate are shaken together to dissolve the solid. If the inner bag contains 117 mL of water (density 1.00 g/mL), how many grams of ammonium nitrate must the outer bag contain to lower the temperature of the water from 23.0 °C...
