Question

D | Question 1 5 pts Suppose you had data on output per worker for four factories. You want to compare productivity across these four factories, and perhaps close one down. The graph best suited to inform this comparison O are boxplots O are a series of line plots O is a histogram 0 is a scatter diagram D Question 2 5 pts In a regression analysis predicting car accidents using the day of the week, the p-value for the calculated test statistic is.03. At the.05 significance level, we O both A and C O fail to reject the null O reject the null O conclude that day of the week is statistically significant in explaining car accidents

D | Question 3 5 pts A manufacturer of batteries periodically selects samples of batteries. A recent sample of batteries 299, 265, 199, 352, 381, and 392 hours. The mean hours of battery life in this sample is powered a common flashlight for 212, 324, O 303 346 O 283 300 D Question 4 5 pts A manufacturer of batteries periodically selects samples of batteries. A recent sample of batteries powered a common flashlight for 212, 324, 299, 265, 199, 352, 381, and 392 hours. The standard deviation of the hours of battery life in this sample is O 68.4 O 6234 O 79 O 73.1

Question 5 Hypothesized value Actual estimate 6.2 Std dev of estimate 5.7 sample size 8 120 A random sample of 120 students were asked about the number of hours they studied per week. The mean number of hours was 6.2 with a standard deviation of 5.7. The t-statistic to test the null that the number of hours studied is 8 is O 2.7 37.89 O 3.46 O 15.37

Answer #1

Question 1) Option A) are boxplots

Boxplots gives us a detailed information based on the 5 statistics, namely, minimum value, maximum value, first quartile, third quartile and median. Box plots are also useful for identifying outliers and for comparing distributions. Since, we are comparing more than one datasets of output per worker for 4 factories, boxplots would be the best way for presenting the information in a number summary of the above 5 statistics.

Question 2) Option C) Reject the null

A small p value tells us that the null hypothesis should be rejected whereas a large p value tells us that the null hypothesis should be accepted. When p value is less than the significance level we reject the null hypothesis. In this case, since the p value is 0.03 which is less than 0.05 significance level, we reject the null hypothesis.

Question 3) Option A) 303

The formula for finding the mean = ( Σ xi ) / n

= (212 + 324 + 299 + 265 + 199 + 352 + 381 + 392)/8

= 2424/8

= 303
