Let the monthly salary be X, so Fikile has received X for 7 months and for the rest of 4 months it received the increased
salary of 1.15X
So the equation will be: 7X + 4*(1.15X) =104,400
7X + 4.6X =104,400
11.6X = 104,400
X =104,400 / 11.6 =R9,000
