Answer #1

Adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and nor-adrenaline and they are produced in response to stress and exercise. During the process of exercises these hormones can increases heart rate, blood pressure, smooth muscle dilation and increased metabolism. All these changes help us to face the stressful conditions.

Physiology: During exercise or stressful conditions, the sympathetic nervous system will be activated to maintain the homeostasis. Activation of sympathetic nervous system causes increased blood pressure and cardiac output, which helps to meet the increased demand of oxygen. The increased rate of metabolism and activation of energy reserves also occurs to meet the energy demands. Increased release of glucocorticoids increases the blood glucose levels to meet the energy demands. The excess heat produced by the increased rate of metabolism is counteracted by increased sweating, thus maintaining the normal body temperature. Glucocorticoids (cortisol is the main hormone) also maintain the fluid balance and immune response alone with metabolic alterations.
