Answer #1

Total number of beds -200

Total discharges - 7000

Average length of stay - 8.5

Bed occupancy rate -82%

Considering the year to be non -leap year - 365days

To calculate the times of 200 hospital beds changed occupants we have two formulas direct and indirect

Applying direct formula :-

Divide the number of discharges including dealth by number of beds

= 7000/ 200

= 35 number of times

Now , applying the indirect formula :-

First of all the bed occupancy rate has to be changed to a decimal = 0.82 ,then multiply it by number of days in a year 365 and divide the value by the length of stay

= 0.8×365/ 8.5

= 34.3 number of times
