1) Moles of NaHCO3 = moles of CO2
For trail 1 : moles of NaHCO3 = 0.0007 moles
For trail 2 : moles of NaHCO3 = 0.0007 moles
2) Mass of NaHCO3 = moles ×molar mass = moles ×84
For both trail : mass of NaHCO3 = 0.0007×84 = 0.0588 g
3) Mass% of NaHCO3 = mass of NaHCO3×100/sample mass
For trail 1 : mass % = 0.0588×100/0.1920 = 30.625 %
For trail 2 : mass % = 0.0588×100/0.1513 = 38.86%
4) Average mass % = (30.625+38.86)/2 = 34.74 %

8. A student performs parts A and B of the experiment and attains an average percent yield from the Alka- Seltzer of 64.6%. Using this value and the following data perform the calculations for part B and complete the table below. Assume the pressure has not changed. As it states in the manual: You may apply the findings regarding percent-yield in Part A to Part B when calculating the moles of calcium carbonate Trial 2 Trial 1 Mass Antacid used...

An Alka-Seltzer tablet consists of NaHCOs (sodium bicarbonate), citric acid (H3C&HsO; citric acid is triprotic), aspirin and other inert ingredients. When dissolved in water, citric acid and NaHCO3 components react as follows: In the first part of the experiment, we will determine the mass of NaHCO in a tablet of Alka Seltzer. To do this, we will use a known mass of a powdered sample of Alka-Seltzer and determine the mass of CO2 gas...
