Answer #1

For agents A,B,C,D, we are to compute Z test, which I have done in MINITAB.

For the total number of home sales for 2018, we find the population mean to be 6.366667 and population standard deviation to be 2.613852

One-Sample Z: Number of homes sold in 2018

Test of μ = 6.36667 vs ≠ 6.36667
The assumed standard deviation = 2.61385

Variable N Mean StDev SE Mean 95% CI Z P
Number of homes sold in 4 7.75 1.71 1.31 (5.19, 10.31) 1.06 0.290

As the p-value is greater than 0.05, thus we fail to reject the null hypothesis at 5% level of significance and hence we can conclude at 5% level of significance, that this sample doesnot differ significantly from the given popoulation.

For the new sample after being included in the previous sample, a Z test is again conducted.

One-Sample Z: Number of homes sold in 2018

Test of μ = 6.36667 vs ≠ 6.36667
The assumed standard deviation = 2.61385

Variable N Mean StDev SE Mean 95% CI Z P
Number of homes sold in 8 8.500 2.000 0.924 (6.689, 10.311) 2.31 0.021

As the p-value is less than 0.05, thus we freject the null hypothesis at 5% level of significance and hence we can conclude at 5% level of significance, that this sample differs significantly from the given popoulation.
