Answer #1

a)

Given:

Pi = 649 torr

Vi = 8.24 L

Vf = 6.34 L

use:

Pi*Vi = Pf*Vf

649 torr * 8.24 L = Pf * 6.34 L

Pf = 843.5 torr

= 843.5 / 760 atm

= 1.11 atm

Answer: 1.11 atm

b)

Given:

Vi = 8.24 L

Ti = 32.0 oC

= (32.0+273) K

= 305 K

Tf = 271.0 oC

= (271.0+273) K

= 544 K

use:

Vi/Ti = Vf/Tf

8.24 L / 305.0 K = Vf / 544.0 K

Vf = 14.7 L

Answer: 14.7 L
