Answer: Cardiac arrest can come on suddenly and it can be describe as the loss of heart function in a person who may or may not have been diagnosed with heart disease. Cardiac arrest is fatal if instant treatment is not provided. The main cause of cardiac arrest is the blocked artery which prevents oxygenated blood from reaching to the heart, so its pumping action disrupted, the heart cannot pump blood to the brain, lungs and other organs. If the blocked artery is not reopened quickly, the part of the heart normally nourished by that artery begins to die, hence result in the death of the person.

The symptoms include:

• No breathing
• Loss of consciousness
• Sudden collapse
• No pulse
• Uneasiness

Treatment is the instant as within few minutes death can occur, so immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) should be given, that is by maintaining the flow of the oxygen into the heart.
