5% means here 5% w/v

means 5 gm in 100 ml

100ml contains= 5g dextrose

1 ml will contain= 5/100 g

then in 650 ml, the amount in gm of dextrose will be= (5/100) X650 g

=32.5 g of dextrose solution is infused in the patient if he receives 650 ml of 5% dextrose

31. Similarly 0.9 % Nacl means 0.9% w/v

means 0.9 g of Nacl in 100ml

then in 450 ml the amount will be= 4.05 g
