The detailed procedure for sepration: 1) Evaporate the DCM and add 200ML of water to the remaining resedue. 2) Extract this aqueous mixture with 200mL of ethyl acetate 3 times. 3) Discard the aqueous layer and seperate the combined organic layer. 4) Wash the organic layer with 100mL water 2 times and then with saturated NaCl solution 5) Then dry the organic layer over anhydrous sodium sulfate 6) Evaporated ethylacetate under reduced pressure to obtain the crude product. 7) Run the flash column with 20%Ethylacetate hexane mixture as a mobile phase. 8) Evaporate the solvent from appropriate fraction under reduced pressure to obtain pure 2-(3-methanesulfonyloxypropyl)napthalene (1)
