There are multiple parts to this question, I have attempted part of the question, but need help to learn the rest and I am unsure if my work is correct
Solution
1. A)
Crude death rate for 2005 in jurupa valley.
Total no of population =young+ old
= 55000+45000= 1,00,000.
Total no of deaths = young + old
= 39+115= 154.
Formula to calculate crude death rate per 1000 is.
Total deaths / No of total populations * 1000
= 154 / 1,00,000 * 1000
= 1.54 .
B) age specific death rates.
Young= crude death rate
Total no of young death / total no of old population*1000
= 39/ 45,000 * 1000
= 0.8667.
Old= total no of old deaths / total no of old population *1000
= 115 / 55000*1000
= 2.09.
Question .2.
Suppose the population is increased by 40 % in old population in 2016.
The new population will be
55,000*40/100= 22,000.
Old+ new= 55,000+22,000= 77,000 .
Young population ,rate and no of deaths remain same in 2016.
Total no of death with the same rate will be
77,000*2.09/1000
= 161 new no of deaths in old population.
Total no of deaths will be 161 in old population.
Crude death rate= total deaths/ total population * 1000
= Old+ young total deaths/ totalpopulation*1000.
= 161+ 39 / old+ young population *1000.
= 200 / 77000+45000*1000.
= 200 / 122000*1000
= 1.63 %
Question 3.
Suppose the population of young is increased by 40 % in young population.
The new no will be
45,000*40/100
18000. More population.
Total young new population will be
= 45,000+ 18,000
= 63,000 new young population.
Total no death on the same rate of population 63,000 will be
= 63000* 0.866 / 1000
= 50 new young no of deaths on population of 63,000.
And old rate, population and death no remains same
Crude death rate will be
= total deaths( old+young) / total population( old+ young) *1000
=115 (old)+ 50(new young ) / 55,000(old)+63,000 (new young)*1000
= 165 / 118000*1000
= 165/ 118
= 1.31 %.
