A good can be considered a luxury goo if its Income elasticity of demand is greater than 1. That is % change in demand is greater than % change in income of the buyer. Its not the price elasticity of demand but income elasticity being greater than one which determines whether a good is luxury or a necessity. In the light of the above argument, the given statement is FALSE.
