Periungal warts (Disorder of nail)

1.This is not linked to generic or any specific race linked disorder, It is found among children and the person who are nail biters

2.Cause

  • Nail biting
  • Human papillomavirus infection
  • Contact with infected persons directly
  • Cervical cancer

It can be prevented by stopping nail biting and following an infection control practice ,avoid sharing of clothes, towels, disinfecting the mail cutters after use.

3.The children's are often found with this they are managed in the following ways

  • Encouraging and teaching childrens not to bite their nails
  • Medical treatment (pulsed dye laser therapy,cryotherapy,the antigen injection are administered,laser therapy, applicationof salicylicacid)

Subjective data:

  • No pain(if small )
  • Extreme pain( if big in size)

Objective data:

  • Blisters or irregular growth of wart like structure around the nails

b.Nursing Diagnosis

  • Acute pain in the finger related to infection as evidenced by warts

c.

  • Administer analgesics as per order to relieve pain
  • Medical therapy (preparation of patient for laser therapy)

d.Short tem goal:to relieve pain

Long term goal: to prevent recurrence and ensuring proper follow up

e.Evaluation

The patient reporting of no pain
