Answer #1

Hi Dear, my sincere apologies that this spectrum does not belongs to 2-methylpentane. Because 2-methylpentane is an aliphatic hydrocarbon without any strong electronegative atoms such as oxygen, fluorine, nitrogen. Only aldehydes & carboxylic acid protons will show a peak > 9 ppm chemical shift. I am already answered this in past, but i do not know whether that person is also you or someone!

The compound is heptanaldehyde and assignment has been shown below. This is 100% sure

HA proton of aldehyde involves in keto-enol tautomerism H2C-C(H)=O <==> HC=CH-OH, now enolic proton couples with adjacent HB and shows doublet splitting, same time HB shows triplet of doublet splitting.

0333232 AAK Unknown Number 28 | G Assign. Shift(ppm) splitting 9.9 2.4 1.6 1.3 0.9 doublet doublet of triplet pentet multiple

Hope this helped you!
