Bonds occur on a atomic level while geometries are observed at the molecular level. Therefore, such trivial factors like a double bond or single bond are irrelevant in geometry. Bot types of bonds serve the same purpose of joining the central atom to another atom. In other words, molecular geometry relates to positioning of the atoms relative to central atoms, not bonds about the atom
