Question

Problem 3: Consider a disk of radius R in the xy-plane with a non-uniform surface charge density ơ(r)-ar, where a > 0 is a constant. Determine the electric field at a point z above the disk, along its axis of symmetry

there was another answer, but i did not quite get it. it seemed to use polar coordinates or something, but i don't really understand how it set up the integral.

Answer #1

I have first considered an elementary ring of the charged disk then we find electric field due to this ring at its axis from its center at a distance z.We then used technique  of integration to find E due to whole disk.2 0 2 SDlv) 22+p2
