It dropped a short questionnaire into the grocery bag of each customer before putting in the groceries 2. To assess the extent of its trade area, a shopping mall stationed interviewers in the parking lot every Monday and Friday evening. Interviewers walked up to people after they had parked their cars and asked them for their zip codes. 3. To assess the popularity of a new movie, a major studio invited people to call a 900 number and vote "yes, they would see it again," or "no, they would not." Each caller was billed a $2 charge. in each of the above method they used different method to collect data.the method they used mainly are questionnaire,interview,voting through call.each method have advantages and disadvantages.let's discuss that below.

questionnaire is a data collection instrument to collect data from respondent.Basically it is a set of standardized question,there are many advantage for questionnaire over other method of data collection.

the method used here by shopping mall is interview,they used this method to get information about the extension of trade area.so lets discuss about interview,

interview is mainly structured conversation where one party ask question and other party answers.here the interview is face to face.it is mainly one on one conversation between parties.

to assess the popularity of the movie they invited each caller for a telephonic voting,this helps the major studio to get the information faster and its a more advancing method comparing to traditional method of data collection.
