Therefore, it is imperative to have a system of costing, where profit can be correctly ascertained. Normally, companies use variable method of costing, where all the manufacturing overheads are shown as expenditure.
However, in absorption costing, overheads, are considered the part of product cost. This helps in determination of correct product cost . Also, it follows the matching concept, therefore, expenditure on units not sold is carried forward to next period, when they are actually sold.
