Difference between employed and Independent Physician Practices:-

- Employed physicians are those who have to follow institutional rules and regulations with administration over each detail whereas Independent physicians set their own rules and regulations about these details and worked and enjoyed the convenience of making their own decisions while dealing with negative feedback as a repercussions from those decisions.

- Independent physicians take more financial risk than employed physician .

- Independent physicians are in a position to negotiate for better reimbursement from Payers but it is not seen in case of employed physicians .

Example:- Large hospital systems make trade off that would result in deeply discounting some specialists services (Reference from mdmag.com)
