I need help with solving ch.14 high-risk postpartum nursing care "tying it all together" questions.

Post partum nursing care :

Post partum period is from the time of delivery untill the 6 weeks .

It is very important to know the health care provider immediate and late complications of post partum period .

Immediately after the delivery nurse should check for the general condition of mother .

Check the level of the consciousness ,pulse ,respirations ,blood pressure .

Nurse should look for the danger signs of the delivery such as post partum hemorrhage , sepsis ,shock etc .

For PPH :

• Monitor the vital signs every 15 minutes estimate the amount of blood loss
• Check the vital signs of mother
• Give the mother to oxytocin injection or misoprostol tablet to decrease the bleeding .
• Massage the utetus to to expel blood and blood clots .
• Establish intravenous line and start an intravenous infusion of ringer lactate or normal saline
• Raise the foot end of mother so that it help for venous return .
• Keep the women warm covered with blankets.
• If the bleeding contnues make the arrangements to transport to higher centers .
• Do not give anything in mouth there may be surgical intervention

For anemia :

• Educate the mother for Hb testing ,if the Hb level is lower than 10 ,advice the mother to take. IFA
• Hb is lower than 8 ,advice for iron sucrose iv supplementation .
• If below 7 ,adviced for blood transfusion
• Encourage the mother to take iron rich diet

For sepsis :

Check the temperature of mother ,

Check the vital signs

Advice for blood culture

Provide antibiotics as per doctors orders .

Advice to take plenty of oral fluids

Advice to take nutritious diet .
