Discuss self-consciousness and self- focusing in adolescence, why do you think it is so prominent at this age. Discuss your own experience. Adolescent age is the age where a person is neither a child nor an adult. It is considered to be an age of confusion. An adolescent person neither understands about self nor about others. Also self consciousness and self focusing is very common in this age.

Self consciousness refers to become very conscious and peculiar about themselves especially their appearance, comparison with others adolescents and their lifestyles. At this age they become very self conscious because they have a conflict in them about almost everything including their confidence and their self esteem. They always find themselves inferior to every other person of their age.

Self focusing is another problems that we see in adolescent people. They make themselves as the center of the whole universe. They focus only on themselves and their problems and think that they are the only ones habvingall the problems of the world. For them selves they are the most important and vulnerable person. They dontdosee the problems faced by any other person including their parents , teachers or family members. It is always obvious that they are more attracted to self and self happinesses.

I myself have experienced all these self concerning feelings and have taken the whole rollercoaster ride of emotions at this age. I was always very self conscious . I had a very little self esteem and I was very conscious about my look and about what others are going to think about me. Also I was self focusing because I never wanted to hear my parents problems. I used to think that I was the only one in the world with the problems be it school problems, relationship problems or life problems.

Being a teenager is a very difficult thing in our entire life.
