Answer #1

8) Answer is b). Because in reaction b), one mole NO2 is formed from its elements hence ∆H°rxn = ∆Hf(NO2)

9) Answer is d).

∆E = q+w = -12.4-4.2 = -16.6 J

Because heat release by system is negative and also work done by the system is also negative.

10) Answer is c).

64 g S releases -790 KJ heat

0.95 g S releases -790×0.95/64 = -12 KJ

11) Answer is B).

In this Reaction 2 moles of Al2O3 is formed. Hence,

∆Hf(Al2O3) = ∆H/2 = -3351/2 = -1676 KJ
