Answer #1

3)

Given:

Hof(H2S(g)) = -20.63 KJ/mol

Hof(O2(g)) = 0.0 KJ/mol

Hof(SO2(g)) = -296.83 KJ/mol

Hof(H2O(l)) = -285.83 KJ/mol

Balanced chemical equation is:

2 H2S(g) + 3 O2(g) ---> 2 SO2(g) + 2 H2O(l)

ΔHo rxn = 2*Hof(SO2(g)) + 2*Hof(H2O(l)) - 2*Hof( H2S(g)) - 3*Hof(O2(g))

ΔHo rxn = 2*(-296.83) + 2*(-285.83) - 2*(-20.63) - 3*(0.0)

ΔHo rxn = -1124.06 KJ

Answer: -1124.1 KJ
